Aluminium 5086 Forgings are mainly made of aluminium, with magnesium being the primary alloying element (about 3.5%–4.5%). They also include trace amounts of manganese, iron, silicon, chromium, and zinc. This alloy is known for its outstanding corrosion resistance, particularly in marine settings. Its mechanical properties feature a tensile strength between 276–350 MPa, a yield strength of around 145 MPa, and good elongation (up to 12%). The alloy retains its strength post-welding and exhibits excellent ductility and impact resistance.
