Duplex 2205 flat bars consist of ~22% Chromium, 5–6% Nickel, 3% Molybdenum, and 0.15–0.2% Nitrogen. Duplex 2205 flat bars are characterized by high mechanical strength with a usual yield strength of 450 MPa and tensile strength of 620–655 MPa. Elongation is approximately 25%, and hardness is close to 290 HB. Such bars exhibit great resistance towards stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion, especially in environments with high chlorides. The microstructure of two phases gives twice the yield strength compared to normal austenitic grades such as 304 and 316, thus making them ideal for applications requiring high load in structures.
