Hastelloy B2 is a nickel-molybdenum alloy known for its remarkable resistance to hydrochloric acid and other potent reducing agents. Its typical makeup consists of around 69–71% nickel and 26–30% molybdenum, with only trace amounts of iron, cobalt, carbon, silicon, and manganese. In terms of mechanical properties, it boasts a tensile strength of about 760 MPa, a yield strength of around 350 MPa, and an elongation of 40–50%. Hastelloy B2 is celebrated for its excellent ductility, thermal stability, and weldability. It maintains its mechanical integrity even at high temperatures and shows strong resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking in harsh chemical environments.
