About 17% chromium and 7% nickel are present in stainless steel 17-7 PH bars and rods, with trace amounts of silicon, carbon, manganese, and aluminium (0.75–1.5%). This precipitation-hardening alloy combines good formability, moderate corrosion resistance, and high strength. Depending on the heat treatment condition (e.g., Condition C, TH 1050), it mechanically achieves tensile strength between 1000 and 1300 MPa, yield strength up to 1100 MPa, and elongation around 10 to 15%. It is appropriate for high-performance engineering and structural applications due to its exceptional fatigue and impact resistance, stability at high temperatures, and other attributes.
