Iron serves as the base for stainless steel 317L rectangular bars, which are made up of chromium (18–20%), nickel (11–15%), molybdenum (3–4%), and low carbon (max 0.03%). The bars have an elongation of 35–40%, a yield strength of 205 MPa, and a tensile strength of roughly 515 MPa.
